Horsemanship Clinics – Just Equus - Join Us

Just Equus holds seven different types of Horse & Cattle Clinics:

Number of participants per clinic: Cattle, Foundation, Groundwork & Obstacle, Mechanical Cow and Team Penning, maximum of  8 /9 riders.  Round Pen Clinic only limited to 6 riders.  We now offer frequent clinics and with less numbers so Pete has more time to spend with each of the rider.

To participate, riders should be 16 years of age and over, except for the Kids Foundation Clinic (ages 8 – 15).

Accommodation: we offer unpowered camping facilities at our premise for participants free of charge, for extra attendance small fee of $10 per person or $30 for the family.

Cancellation policy: A minimum four weeks of notification prior to the clinic to receive full refund.

Just Equus Horse Clinics are held on our premise at Allenview.  All of our horse clinics focus on rider / horse participation and providing one on one time with Peter Biggs, Just Equus’ Horse Coach. Our horse clinics are very popular and always sell out well in advance; book early to reserve your place. Spectators are welcome to attend free of charge.

Horsemanship Clinics

Round Pen Clinic  This clinics is designed to help riders understand how to utilise round pen and engage with their horse to a higher level without a halter or lead; gaite changes (speed control), better control of horses’ feet, getting the horse to face up, and desensitizing your horse. Our goal is to empower you and your horse to achieve a true partnership.

No experience is necessary, the clinic will cater to all participants. Morning team provided.  Riders to bring their own lunch. Spectators are welcome to attend for FREE.

Just Equus Foundation Horse Clinics (Confidence Clinic) are suitable for riders wanting to improve their confidence, communication and understanding. We cover the common issues and problems and provide real practical advice, to assist with your learning and development.  Our Clinics are specifically designed to improve and build confidence between rider and horse.  Ground work and ridden exercises include; back up, soft feel, flexion, disengaging hind end, lunging, walk and trot transition, and obstacles.

This clinics suit riders of any level of experience and discipline. Morning Tea provided, riders to bring their own lunch. Spectators welcome to attend for FREE.

Just Equus’ Groundwork & Obstacle Clinic are designed for riders to improve on their horsemanship on the ground and with obstacles.  The groundwork component is learning how to control their horse from the ground so the rider can gain respect and the obstacles component helps the riders to direct their horses through obstacles gaining their confidence.

This clinics suit riders of any level of experience and discipline. Morning Tea provided, riders to bring their own lunch. Spectators welcome to attend for FREE.

Just Equus’ Mechanical Cow & Horsemanship Clinics.  The Mechanical Cow* program is designed to help riders to establish their correct position in preparation for working a cow. The horsemanship component is designed to help riders refine their horsemanship on the ground and on their backs.

No experience is necessary, the clinic will cater to all participants. Morning team provided.  Riders to bring their own lunch. Spectators are welcome to attend for FREE.

*About the Mechanical Cow: it is a device used for training your horse to work a cow, stop straight, improve roll backs and maintain proper position.

Cattle Clinics

Just Equus’ Introduction to Cutting Clinic  This clinic will bring in the fundamentals to establish the rider in the art of ‘cutting.’  This includes learning and participating in the role of the herd holder (holding cattle) and the competitor (rider cutting a beast from the mob). This is suitable for all level of experience.

No experience is necessary, the clinic will cater to all participants. Morning team provided.  Riders to bring their own lunch. Spectators are welcome to attend for FREE.

Just Equus’ Ranch Roping Clinic  This clinic will bring in the fundamentals to establish the mechanics needed to become a successful ranch roper, whether in competition or in actual cattle work.  We will cover; learning how to throw a loop, de-sanitizing your horse to the rope, activities in preparation for the horse getting use to dallying up a calf or throwing a loop to cattle.  Equipment rider to supply: Minimum 35+ ft. rope(required), roping saddle (optional for those who want to rope off their horse).

No experience is necessary, the clinic will cater to all participants. Morning team provided.  Riders to bring their own lunch. Spectators are welcome to attend for FREE.

Just Equus’ Team Penning Clinics.  Team Penning is one of the fastest growing horse sports in Australia. This clinic aim to help riders improve their team penning techniques; learn how to control their horse and position a cow.  This is a great way not only to work on refining your skill, but to also work as a team for a desired outcome.  Working in groups of 2, 3 riders per team. Team penning is a western equestrian sport that evolved from the common ranch work of separating cattle into pens.

No experience is necessary, the clinic will cater to all participants. Morning team provided.  Riders to bring their own lunch. Spectators are welcome to attend for FREE.

Just Equus’ Introduction to Working & Handling Cattle Clinics are for riders who wish to introduce their horses to cattle in a safe, controlled environment.  Participants will learn how to move small groups of cattle, cut single animals out of a group, work cattle up and down a fence, and more! We will be focusing on learning how cattle and horses respond to pressure, and how to use that knowledge to increase you and your horses’ cattle working capabilities.

No experience is necessary, the clinic will cater to all participants. Morning team provided.  Riders to bring their own lunch. Spectators welcome to attend for FREE.

Just Equus’ Cattle Clinic is similar to the ‘Introduction to the Working & Handling Cattle’ Clinic, but the riders get the opportunity to refine their skills working with cattle on areas they wish to improve on; move small groups of cattle, cut single animals out of a group, work cattle up and down a fence and refine your horsemanship working with cattle.

If you have had no experience prior, it is recommended to have attend the ‘Introduction to the Working & Handling Cattle’ clinic.  Morning team provided.  Riders to bring their own lunch. Spectators welcome to attend for FREE.
