How Horses View Time

How Horses View Time
Time is irrelevant because they learn from experience. Their comprehension isn’t on a linear basis like ours, where we sort out our day, set goals to meet timeframes due to monetary constraints and so forth. In their natural environment, they eat when hungry and drink when thirsty. They deal with things as they happen, including play, socialisation, reproduction and survival.

We place our horses on timelines: feeding, exercise, brushing, etc. They are controlled to a degree because we take care of them. However, this doesn’t mean that they will all succeed in learning as if they were in school.

“Different horses for different courses.”

We have timeframes and time management, but they don’t. So, time in this instance is not a factor in their development. We have to be more willing to accept that the time it takes to achieve a change is simply the time it takes. We measure it; they live it without time boundaries.

How Humans View Time

Humans perceive time as a structured and linear progression, segmented into past, present, and future. This perception is deeply embedded in our daily routines and societal expectations. We use calendars and clocks to organize our lives, setting schedules, deadlines, and goals to manage our time efficiently. This structured approach is often driven by various constraints such as work, monetary obligations, and social commitments.

Our view of time influences how we plan and prioritize our activities, balancing immediate needs with long-term aspirations. This perspective also affects our interactions and relationships, as we often measure success and progress against predefined timelines.

In contrast to horses, who live more in the moment and respond to natural rhythms, humans impose a framework of time management on their existence. This can lead to a sense of urgency and pressure to meet certain milestones, shaping our experiences and overall approach to life.
